Comparison of Rheological Behaviour of Bio-Based and Synthetic Epoxy Resins for Making Ecocomposites

In this paper, the rheological behaviour of a petroleum-based epoxy (EL2 laminating epoxy) was compared with Super Sap CLR clear bio-resin epoxy. The focus work on viscous and viscoelastic performance these resins. Rheological tests were carried out at 15, 30, 60 min after mixing pure epoxies hardeners constant temperature 25 °C. results obtained from rheometer showed that viscosity both systems decreased increasing shear rate, which is typical thinning fluid. Regarding oscillatory rheology tests, properties resins studied within their linear region (LVER) by amplitude sweep test, also hardeners. It noticed possessed more significant LVER relative to bio-based resin. Finally, storage modulus (G′), loss (G″), phase angle extracted, parameters investigated over low high frequencies.
